Health and Safety Director, Nefab Americas

This role will drive a proactive safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and support operational excellence across a multi-site manufacturing environment.  As the Health & Safety Director, you will be responsible for developing, leading, and continually improving the region’s health and safety programs. You will oversee audits, risk assessments, and compliance initiatives while collaborating closely with site leaders and global EHS counterparts. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership, and the ability to implement robust safety systems that prevent workplace injuries and health risks.

You will provide expert guidance, investigate incidents, communicate safety expectations, and champion a culture of continuous improvement. Regular travel throughout the region will be required to ensure alignment and accountability across all sites.

JOB SUMMARY

•  Routinely visit assigned facilities to provide and assess safety compliance assistance and coaching. 

•  Identifying health & safety risks and hazards in the workplace and assisting sites with developing and implementing prevention programs, policies & standards, and safety management system.

•  Advise operations leaders and employees on how to minimize hazards and risks in the workplace and improve health & safety performance.

•  Conduct health & safety inspections.

•  Participate in the H&S audits as required.

•  Ensuring injuries, illnesses and near misses are reported to as required to the safety department and business leaders.

•  Assisting sites with incident investigations and regulatory inspections.

•  Communicating H&S performance with site leadership.

•  Assist sites with maintaining accurate H&S records applicable for the site (e.g., OSHA injury & illness logs, training documentation, equipment inspection records, etc.)

•  Assisting site managers with establishing and maintaining a site health & safety committee.

•  Partner closely with all site leaders to create, maintain and improve our safety environment.

•  Assist sites and regions with preparing and responding to regulatory inquiries/notices of violations by federal, state, and governmental safety, and health authorities.


YOUR PROFILE

•  Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety Sciences, Safety Engineering, or similar.

•  Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or similar, preferred.

•  7-10 years of health & safety experience preferably in a manufacturing organization with multi-site responsibilities.

•  Familiar with implementing EH&S Management Systems, e.g., ISO 14001, ANSI Z-10, OSHAS 18001, or ISO 45001.

•  Experience with leading incident investigations, conducting hazard & risk assessments, training with hourly and management personnel, conducting S&H audits and driving cultural change.

•  Experience developing and implementing forward thinking processes that have enhanced the S&H culture, reduced injuries and demonstrated improved performance are essential.

•  Significant knowledge of OSHA regulations required.

•  Experience using web-based systems to support EH&S.

•  Strong communication, presentation, training and facilitation, project management skills are essential.

•  Knowledge of LEAN and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles.

•  Experience implementing “new view” S&H programs. 

•  Strong interpersonal, customer service and leadership skills.

•  Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Access databases.

•  Strong analytical skills to analyze safety & health data.

•  Some overnight travel required.
