The position is required to oversee thermoforming operations, ensuring optimal performance of machinery and adherence to production schedules. Develop and implement process improvements for thick and thin-walled thermoforming operations, focusing on increasing efficiency and reducing waste.
* Thermoforming, Extrusion or Plastics manufacturing experience is required to be considered for this position.
*Experience with OEE, scrap and basic process/production metrics are preferred.
*Experience with Heavy and Thin Gauge Plastic required.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee thermoforming operations, ensuring optimal performance of machinery and adherence to production schedules.
Develop and implement process improvements for thick and thin walled thermoforming operations, focusing on increasing efficiency and reducing waste.
Ensure all thermoforming activities comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards, conducting regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance.
Train and mentor staff on thermoforming techniques, best practices, and safety protocols to build a skilled and knowledgeable team.
Collaborate with engineering and design teams to develop and refine thermoforming processes, incorporating feedback from production staff and quality assurance.
Manage extrusion operations and ensure seamless integration with thermoforming processes, coordinating closely with other departments to optimize workflows.
Maintain and troubleshoot thermoforming equipment to minimize downtime and ensure high productivity, developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs.
Coordinate with quality assurance to resolve any issues related to thermoformed products, working together to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain accurate records of thermoforming operations, including production data, maintenance logs, and quality reports, and report performance metrics to senior management.
Conduct root cause analysis on production issues, implementing solutions to prevent recurrence and improve overall process stability and performance.
Lead manufacturing design projects from concept through production, ensuring designs are manufacturable and meet customer specifications.
Work closely with the engineering team to develop innovative design solutions that enhance product performance and manufacturability, utilizing CAD and simulation software.
Review and approve design drawings, specifications, and manufacturing plans, ensuring alignment with production capabilities and quality standards.
Conduct design reviews to ensure all manufacturing aspects are considered, including tooling, materials, and production processes, identifying potential risks and mitigating them.
Develop and implement design for manufacturability (DFM) guidelines to streamline production and reduce costs, promoting standardization and modularity where possible.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, quality, and supply chain, to ensure seamless product development and launch, facilitating communication and coordination.
Continuously evaluate and improve manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety, implementing lean manufacturing principles and other best practices.
Stay current with advancements in manufacturing technologies and design practices to drive innovation within the organization, attending industry conferences and training sessions.
Provide technical support and guidance to the manufacturing team to address design-related issues and optimize production outcomes, ensuring rapid resolution of problems and maintaining production schedules.
