SUPERVISOR, NEFAB PACKAGING SOUTHEAST

Our Operations and Business Systems organization is vital for us to deliver efficient, reliable, and customer-focused warehouse and VMI solutions to our customers. We are now looking for a dynamic SUPERVISOR to join our team in Fairburn, GA. 

As the Supervisor, under the direction of the Operations Manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day logistics.  You will be responsible for meeting customer deadlines on deliveries and maintain a very positive moral among the your team putting Safety first and Quality of upmost importance.  You will manage a team of employees and be responsible for their personal improvements on the job and their training. 

You will be part of the Nefab Southeast VMI organization, working closely with customers, warehouse operations, local super users, . The role requires close cross-functional cooperation and active communication across departments, regions, and external service providers to ensure Customer Satisfaction and continuous improvement.

This position is located in Fairburn, GA, and you will report the Operations Manager.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day scheduling of production through the plant and operation of the production shift, ensuring the effective and efficient deployment of resources including material and manpower, to meet production and customer requirements in accordance with applicable policies and in the most economical and safe manner suitable to the operation.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Personnel
  • Daily supervision of hourly workers (will rotate with same crew), including opening and closing plant
  • Provides employee training for ISO 90001 and 14001 as well as safety, operation of equipment and WHMIS
  • Motivates employees to always work at their personal best
  • With Manager, performance manage employees as required to maintain a safe, efficient, and cooperative work group.
  • With Manager interview and recruit production personnel
  • Operations
  • Manage daily work orders to completion within scheduled time frame, assigning tasks to workers as required
  • Manage finished goods warehouse
  • Monitor times to maximize efficiency, making recommendations for improvement where applicable
  • Verify workers’ time sheets
  • Maintain production quality in accordance with Nefab or customer standards and ISO 9001 and 14001
  • Perform quality inspection on finished goods with other production personnel and engineering
  • Report and schedule machine maintenance with Manager if applicable
  • Maintain order and safe keeping of all tools
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices for the plant
  • With the Manager, assist in the planning and scheduling of all work
  • Provide input to management for budgets and capital expenses and assist in feasibility studies
  • Interface with engineers to resolve technical issues
  • Nefab delivery truck management and utilization
  • Production Planning/Administration Staff
  • Generates and issues Customer Work Order, drawings and other related documentation containing critical information regarding products to be produced and material requirements
  • Reviews documentation for accuracy
  • Works with engineering to make necessary modifications to documentation
  • A primary function of the Production or Shift Supervisor is coordinating and expediting the flow of production through the plant, driven by a responsiveness production capacities and Customer Service requirements
  • Review a variety of relevant production related documents, analyzing, interpreting, and developing appropriate action plans to ensure efficient and continuous production
  • The Supervisor interfaces with outside contractors, suppliers and vendors as well as members of management and fellow employees. As such the incumbent must maintain an accurate and current awareness of issues that impact production and customer service
  • Assigning employees workload, determining training requirements, expediting work in progress, coordinating shipping/receiving activities, reviewing/researching/documenting/creating a variety of related reports, and working on any production process depending on priority and need
  • To be effective the incumbent must possess a good working knowledge of the operation and its capabilities
  • Lead Hand Evaluation Factors
  • Must possess a good working knowledge of all plant equipment and their respective output capacities
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of process capabilities.
  • Must possess a good understanding of people capabilities and resultant training requirements
  • Other responsibilities include worker safety and the potential for injury from the improper set-up and operation of equipment
  • Must be able to plan effectively and coordinate production activities to meet required deadlines

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS


EDUCATION

Technical degree, Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred


EXPERIENCE

  • 2-3 years’ experience as a supervisor within a logistics environment
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings/documents
  • Experience working with steel, wood, corrugate, foam and/or other traded material considered an asset
  • Experience employing and enforcing the Occupational Health and Safety Act

LANGUAGES

  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal
  • Fluent in Spanish is a plus

Work Environment

  • Office working conditions are normal for an office environment.  
  • Plant working conditions include noise more than 90 dB, variable temperatures and humidity (climate conditions), some dirt and dust (within OSHA guidelines), and when outside, inclement weather. Personal Protection Equipment is provided.
  • The Supervisor’s role has cyclical stress due to frequent goals and deadlines and daily stress due to the responsibility associated with the incumbent’s decisions, outcomes, and potential outcomes. The incumbent is faced with constant interruptions and frequently meets with others.
